SRK in detention and secondary inspection
A tough speaking US immigration officer detained Shahrukh Khan for a ''secondary inspection'' at Newark’s Liberty International airport on Friday en route to an event to celebrate India’s Independence Day in Chicago, President Barack Obama’s hometown. However that was only after primary inspection.
It is doubtful why Khan, who is a frequent visitor to the US, and has been shooting since the past two months for“My Name is Khan,” was subjected to a ''secondary inspection," A secondary inspection is when the Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) officer at the immigration counter asks a visitor (can be a US citizen too) to go to a separate area for 'more questioning' so as to not hold the queue because the visitor information and proof has to be authenticated.
India's biggest superstar and an actor even popular Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise, Shahrukh Khan was subjected to secondary inspection .He was questioned for couple of hours, asked what he thought were pointless questions, denied the use of his cell phone and was allowed to make just one call, as per the rules.
''I told them I was a movie star and had recently visited the country for the shooting of my film. Nothing seemed to convince the immigration officer. There were other immigration officers who even vouched for me but this particular officer did not listen to anyone. I even told them I had an invitation from the South Asian community and was there to attend an event." SRK told Times of India.
Apart from Shahrukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Irrfan Khan and a Canadian -Indian writer Rohinton Mistry, a Parsi have also faced such problems.
